June 2008 | Successful appearance as employer

„It was worth the effort, no doubt.“ This was the first time Eurowings had taken part at the „Career Day“ at the International Aeropace Exhibition (ILA) in Berlin at the end of May, and Sonja Walter, Head of Material, and Oliver Weiss, Head of Engineering, are convinced that two major goals have been achieved. For one, the 6 members of the exhibition team returned home with a fat folder containing job applications and applicant profiles. For another, a large number of specialist visitors of the exhibition had been made aware that Eurowings Luftverkehrs AG was an independent employer.

The reason why Eurowings took part in the „Career Day“ had a concrete background. Eurowings needs „two handfuls" of engineers and 15 to 20 skilled mechanics, plus cabin attendants. How many applicants can meet the conditions will be seen later when the application documents have been checked. Anyhow, Sonja Walter is convinced that the Eurowings stall roused interest in the right people – thanks to intensive preparations, it was located directly at the entrance and it was bigger than those of the neighbours. „And there was no small talk, the talks were at a good level“, she says. „We were able to welcome prospects for all vacant posts.“ She expects more applications to come in because most of the company flyers had been taken.

In a nutshell: „We presented ourselves as best we could, which was also possible thanks to the good cooperation with all involved“, Walter and Weiss state in conclusion. The concept development and the organization of the show had not been provided by an external service firm but were completely done in-house.
