Deutsche Lufthansa AG
Deutsche Lufthansa AG is a company with activities in the national and international passenger and cargo aviation markets and related services. The Lufthansa Passage Airlines are among the biggest airlines in the world. They carry more passengers on international routes than any other IATA member airline. This business segment comprises Deutsche Lufthansa AG, the controlling company of the corporate group, Air Dolomiti, Lufthansa CityLine, the Eurowings Group, including Germanwings, and the Swiss International Air Lines.

Lufthansa and Eurowings owner Dr. Albrecht Knauf have concluded a voting trust agreement under which Lufthansa acquires a majority of voting rights in Eurowings. No changes are made to the ownership structure at present: Lufthansa continues to hold 49 per cent shares of Eurowings.

Through their common 100% affiliated company in Germanwings GmbH, its fleet of 62 planes operates flights inside Germany and cross-border flights from and to German destinations.
 
With about 9.6 million passengers at the end of last year, the Group achieved an all-time high figure in its history.

In addition to passenger traffic, Eurowings is also active in, air cargo, charter, repair, maintenance and overhaul projects as well as ground services.








Germanwings GmbH
Germanwings was formed in 1997 by the name of Eurowings Flug GmbH as 100% subsidiary of Eurowings Luftverkehrs AG and renamed Germanwings GmbH in 2002.

With a fleet of 28 planes it operates short and medium-distance flights. Germany’s leading low-priced airline records 2-digit growth in sales and passengers: The airline carried eight million passengers.
