Our safety measures at a glance

Eurowings is following the official regulations of many European countries, who have made the wearing of face masks mandatory in public. Your health is of our utmost importance.

Please find further information on our mask regulation in our General Conditions of Carriage, 11.5. We kindly ask you to bring your own face mask.

Due to the current low seat load factor, seat assignments will be spaced apart as much as possible throughout the cabin.

In general, infections remain highly unlikely on board of a plane. Since the outbreak of the pandemic, there has not been any known case of infection onboard a Eurowings flight. The air on all Lufthansa Group aircraft circulates vertically. In addition, aircraft are equipped with high quality air filters that ensure an air quality similar to that of an operating theatre.

Protective measures along the travel journey

Prior to departure

Even prior to departure, we continuously provide you with all relevant information on all digital Eurowings channels.

At the airport

Eurowings and the airport operators provide comprehensive information on protective measures in all public areas as well as at gates and during boarding. This includes clearly visible stand-up displays, instruction signs, tensa barriers used to control distancing, Eurowings monitor recordings, loudspeaker announcements and partial floor markings. The airport staff also ensures that distances are maintained. The federal police has also introduced measures at security checkpoints, including new hand luggage rules.

Many airports have made masks mandatory in both terminals and shops. Since regulations at airports are currently changing regularly, we recommend that you always carry a mask with you.

To avoid queuing, Sylt Airport offers an late night check-in since 20.05.2020. You can use this service for only 5.00 EUR (incl. taxes) daily, from 16:00 to 17:30.

During boarding

On domestic flights within Germany, boarding with buses is avoided where possible

Boarding pace is controlled by dividing passengers into groups. At German airports with respective infrastructure and adequate official regulations, all Eurowings flights will now be receiving direct gate positions. This measure aims to avoid transferring passengers by bus from apron positions. If this is not feasible, we employ twice as many busses. Additional measures are currently being evaluated to further reduce the risk of waiting times in the jetway.

Onboard

Numerous measures considerably reduce contact between passenger and crew as well as between passengers. For example, inflight shopping has been suspended and the onboard service has been reduced in all cabins in order to limit possible contact by hand.
