The most frequently asked questions

  • Please report immediately to our "Lost & Found" counter in the Arrivals area of the destination airport, as delayed reports cannot be accepted. Our colleagues at the counter will do everything to find your luggage as quickly as possible.

    In the first 5 days following the loss of your luggage, the airport at which you reported the loss is solely responsible for the search. If they are unable to find your item of luggage within this time, our headquarters will take over. You can find out any updates on the search online on our luggage tracing page.

    We kindly ask you to send us following documents via email to help us find your luggage as quickly as possible:

    • Your booking number (online confirmation number)
    • The loss report from the destination airport
    • The contents list (BIF) issued by the airport, which must be filled out fully and signed
    • Your bank account details – not your credit card details (for bank accounts held abroad please include your IBAN und SWIFT code)
    • Your telephone number in case of any questions or messages
    • Your luggage tag

  • You can enter your Miles & More service card number before departure under "My flight". Use your Eurowings booking code.

    If your flight is not listed under "My flights", you can have check-in staff enter your number for you.

    Of course, you can also enter your Miles & More number after you have taken your flight. You will find the form for entering your miles retroactively at www.miles-and-more.com/mileage-request.

  • If you selected the Flex option when booking your SMART or BEST fare, you can cancel your flight before web check-in closes prior to departure at no extra charge. There are four ways to do this:

    • Via our website under "My flight"
    • Via our mobile services under "Manage flights"
    • Via our call centre
    • At our airport counters

    With the Flex option, flights can also be cancelled after the time of the original departure has passed, as long as this is done on the same calendar day as the departure of the original flight, either by telephone via the call centre or in person at the airport counter. If the flight is not cancelled until after the original departure date, a charge will be incurred.

    If you have selected another fare, your booking cannot be cancelled due to the low-cost price of the flight.

  • Eurowings only carries dogs and cats. These must be carried in the cabin.

    The following requirements must be fulfilled for your animal to be able to fly with you:

    • Animals must be carried in a watertight, closed, breathable bag (not a hard container) that they cannot bite through.
    • The bag may be no bigger than 40 x 40 x 25.5 cm.
    • Both the animal and the bag together may weigh no more than 8 kg.
    • The animal must be able to stand upright in the bag.
    • The animal must be able to turn around and lie in a natural position.
    • Only one animal is allowed per bag and per person.

    Please note that we will not be able to carry your animal if the bag does not fulfil the above requirements.

    The provisions of the EU regulation on animal health requirements applicable to the non-commercial movement of pet animals, which came into force on 1 October 2004, must also be observed. Please read this regulation before booking your flight or contact your vet, the Veterinary Office or border control.

    Category 1 attack dogs

    For safety reasons, we cannot carry category 1 attack dogs such as pit bull terriers and Staffordshire bull terriers.

    Flights to the UK and Ireland

    Due to the local entry requirements, we are unfortunately unable to carry animals on flights from or to the UK and Ireland.

    Please note that the entry and exit of assistance dogs are subject to special regulations in the United Kingdom and Ireland.

    Flights to Israel

    The following conditions apply for bringing dogs and cats into Israel:

    • An official veterinary health certificate including all required vaccinations (not older than 10 days) must be carried.
    • Animals must be at least three months old.

    The following conditions apply for bringing or returning dogs and cats to Israel:

    • Animals must be identified with a microchip (ISO standard 11784 or 11785).
    • An official veterinary health certificate must be issued by the district vet no earlier than 10 days before the flight.
    • A vaccination certificate must be carried and must include a valid rabies vaccination given at least 30 days but no more than 12 months before the flight.
    • Evidence of rabies antibodies must be given.
    • A blood test must be carried out at the Veterinary Institute Beit Dagan at least 30 days after vaccination and at least three months before entering Europe.
  • Children aged 12 or older may fly alone. Children under 12 may only fly accompanied by a responsible adult. Children between the age of five and eleven may also travel accompanied by a sibling aged sixteen years or older. The child's companion must be able to assist the child at all times in the case of any unusual event. If the responsible adult does not have parental authority, we must be provided with the following written permission from an adult with parental authority.  

    Please note that special entry and exit conditions apply in some countries.

    Unaccompanied minor service

    On direct domestic flights and direct flights from Germany to Zurich or Vienna Eurowings offers an unaccompanied minor service (UM service) for children aged from five up to and including 11. Our friendly staff will not only ensure the well-being of your child during the flight, but will also make sure that your child arrives safely in the destination airport. On board, each unaccompanied child will receive a sweet or savoury snack, 0.2 L of still water, a sweet and, upon request, an additional beverage free of charge.

    Booking

    The UM service and the corresponding flight can be booked via the call centre or at a Eurowings airport counter, but unfortunately not online or via mobile phone. If your booking has an etix® ticket number, you can only book the UM service at the airport.

    Charges

    A charge will be applied per journey leg and per child. This must be paid with the booking payment.

    Note:

    All regulations apply to Eurowings flights with an EW flight number, regardless of the operating airline. For our partner airlines' flights, which do not have an EW flight number, the conditions of the respective airline apply. These can be viewed on the airlines' own websites. These partner airlines currently include Lufthansa, SWISS, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, Condor, United Airlines, Air Canada and All Nippon Airways.

  • You can change the date of your Eurowings flight before web check-in closes prior to departure, as long as the flight will be taken by the same person on the same route and within our published flight schedule. You can make the change online or using your mobile phone, via our call centre or at the airport counter.

    If you decide to change your booking via telephone or in person, an additional processing charge will be incurred, unless you booked your flight with the Flex option.

    Changing the date of your flight

    1. Log in to "My flight" using your username and password. There you will find a summary of your booked flights.
    2. Select the flight you wish to change.
    3. Enter the new flight date.

    You can then change your flight on payment of a charge and, if necessary, on payment of the difference in fare for your new flight date.

    If you booked your flight with the Flex option, you can change your flight at no extra charge up to before web check-in closes prior to the planned departure time of the affected flight online, using your mobile, via telephone or in person at the airport counter. The Flex option also allows you to change the flight date after the planned departure time, as long as this is done on the same calendar day as the departure of the original flight, via our call centre or in person at the airport counter. If you do not cancel your flight until after the original departure date, a charge will be incurred.

    Please note that if the flight date is changed online, this can only be done within the same fare. If you would like to upgrade your fare (e.g. from BASIC to SMART), you can do so up to 72 hours prior to departure via telephone or at the airport counter.

    Note:

    If you have an etix® ticket number instead of a booking number, or if you have booked a flight operated by one of our partner airlines at eurowings.com or you have booked a Eurowings flight with one of our partner airlines or in a travel agency, please contact the relevant partner airline or your travel agency regarding this matter.

    All regulations apply to Eurowings flights with an EW flight number, regardless of the operating airline.     Changing the passenger name

    You can transfer your flight to another person before web check-in closes prior to departure via telephone on payment of a charge and by giving the booking number. Please note that if multiple legs have been booked as part of the journey, the passenger name may only be changed before web check-in closes prior to the planned departure of the first flight.

    Costs

    If the current flight price is higher than the price you originally paid, you must pay the difference in the fares.

    Note:

    If your Eurowings flight booking has an etix® ticket number, it is unfortunately not possible to change the passenger name.

  • Yes, various food and drink options can be purchased at low prices on Eurowings flights. Fresh sandwiches, tasty snacks, hot and cold drinks – the choice is yours!

    SMART fare

    If you have booked the SMART fare or your booking has an etix® ticket number, you will receive a sweet or savoury snack, still water (0.2 L) and an additional non-alcoholic beverage (0.15 L of Sprite, cola or cola light, or 0.2 L of juice, mineral water, coffee or tea) free of charge.

    BEST fare

    The BEST fare allows you to enjoy our BEST-Meals (one warm and one cold) including fresh products and specials. You can choose a drink during our on-board service.

    BIZclass-Tarif

    If you have booked a flight on a Short or medium-haul route with a BIZclass fare, enjoy our special meal and service at your place. Your favourite snack & drink come at no extra charge. On long haul flights you can make your choice from the menu between two starters and a vegetarian, fish or meat main course. A dessert or cheese plate round off your moment of culinary pleasure on board.

  • You can also collect miles from Eurowings flights with the MileagePlus programme from United Airlines, the Aeroplan programme from Air Canada and the Mileage Club programme from All Nippon Airways (ANA). To do this, you must enter your frequent flyer number when you book your flight on eurowings.com. You can also use your United MileagePlus miles and ANA Mileage Club miles to book award flights with Eurowings. You can book bonus flights with United MileagePlus miles on the United Airlines website or through the United MileagePlus service team. Award flights with ANA Mileage Club miles can only be booked through the ANA Mileage Club service team. 

We can only transport children under the age of 12 at the time of travel if they travel with a responsible companion who has reached majority. Children and the accompanying adult must belong to the same booking (with the same booking number). If this is not the case, please contact our call centre no later than 3 days before departure.

In event that the accompanying adult is not a parent or legal guardian, we will need written permission from a parent or a legal guardian. Please use the form provided for this purpose. Without this written permission, we regret that we will have to refuse carriage.

etix® is an electronic ticket that replaces paper tickets. It has a 13-digit number in addition to your booking code. You receive this etix® ticket number under certain circumstances, for example if you book through the Lufthansa website or a travel agent. It is saved for you in the etix® database. When you present your etix® ticket number and a photo ID, you will receive your boarding pass.

When flying from, to or over certain countries* airlines are required by law to collect certain data through the Advance Passenger Information System (APIS) and to forward it to the authorities of those countries prior to the flight.

The following information is required:

  • Title
  • First name and surname
  • Date and country of birth
  • Gender
  • Nationality
  • Passport information

Additional APIS information is required for entry into the USA:

  • Country of residency
  • Destination airport
  • Complete address of your destination (street, city, postal code, state/province, country) 

Passengers who book online can enter this information immediately after completing their booking. Any missing information can be added later by going to 'My Eurowings'.

To avoid unnecessary delays at the check-in counter, we recommend that you submit the APIS information as early as possible using our online form.

Please note that you may not be permitted to travel if the information is not complete.
