The most frequently asked questions

  • Expectant mothers can fly safely up to and including the 36th week of pregnancy without there being an increased health risk, provided that there have been no complications during the pregnancy. For the safety of the mother and the unborn child, expectant mothers may no longer fly after this time.

    Women should avoid flying during pregnancy if they:

    • Are expecting a multiple birth
    • Have previously suffered a miscarriage
    • Suffer from heart and circulatory illnesses

    There is an increased risk of thrombosis throughout the entire pregnancy.

    In order to prevent other possible risks, we recommend you visit your doctor before flying.

  • Passengers with disabilities can of course board the plane first. If you and your companion require additional help when checking in, boarding or on the way to your seat, we are on hand to offer assistance. Naturally, these additional services are available free of charge.

    Adding additional services

    In the second booking step, various assistance options can be added to your booking under "More services". Here, you can also register that you are bringing a wheelchair. However, you can also amend your booking and add additional services at a later date, up to before web check-in closes before departure – in the "My flight" section.

  • Yes, we can carry up to five passengers with wheelchairs per flight (not applicable for flights to and from the U.S.), provided that the mobility aids do not have wet-cell batteries or unsealed or non-leakproof batteries. The carriage of larger groups of passengers with wheelchairs is only possible if agreed with us in advance.

    If your wheelchair is battery powered and has leakproof dry-cell or gel batteries, you must ensure that the battery is not connected and ready for use and that the poles are secured against a short circuit and isolated. The battery must also be attached securely to the wheelchair. We will of course carry your mobility aids free of charge.

    You can of course bring your wheelchair free of charge on Eurowings flights booked with one of our partner airlines or at a travel agency. For more information, please contact the relevant airline or your travel agency.

  • Yes, as a rule it is possible for passengers to fly with a plaster cast, provided that the cast has been split or has an expansion joint. We recommend that you obtain a certificate from your doctor to prove that you are fit to fly.

  • Yes, you can edit your booking and add the following extra services up to before web check-in closes before departure, whether you do it online, on your mobile phone, by phone or at one of our airport counters:

    • Regular, excess and special luggage (golfing equipment, bicycles and sports equipment such as surfboards, snowboards, bodyboards, diving gear, and sail and hang gliders)
    • Transport of pets
    • Seat reservations
    • Boarding and disembarking assistance for hearing or visually impaired passengers and travellers with restricted mobility
    • Boarding with a wheelchair
    • Assistance for passengers with restricted mobility from check-in to the aircraft, including assistance with steps to aircraft
    • Train connections to airport

    Please be aware that space restrictions prevent us from transporting unlimited amounts of special baggage. Once our space is used up, you will no longer be able to select this service.

    Fare upgrade

    Up to 72 hours before departure, you can still upgrade your fare by telephone or at our counters. There will be no processing charge if you do this by phone.

    Do you have an etix® ticket number instead of a booking number? Did you book your Eurowings flight through a travel agent or one of our partner airlines? Did you book a flight with a partner airline at eurowings.com? If so, please contact the relevant airline or your travel agent.

  • Passengers who are completely immobile must be accompanied by a companion on Eurowings flights for safety reasons.

  • Of course, assistance dogs may fly with us free of charge. Please understand, however, that we are only able to carry one assistance dog per flight (not applicable for flights to and from the U.S.). We therefore recommend that you check before booking that this assistance dog place is still available, and then register your dog with us using our contact form.

Children and the accompanying adult must belong to the same booking (with the same booking number). If this is not the case, please contact our call centre no later than 3 days before departure.

In event that the accompanying adult is not a parent or legal guardian, we will need written permission from a parent or a legal guardian. Please use the form provided for this purpose. Without this written permission, we regret that we will have to refuse carriage.
On direct flights within Germany, childen ages 5 through 11 may travel with Eurowings without an accompanying adult (unaccompanied minors). Our child-friendly staff will care for your child and ensure that he or she reaches the destination airport safely.

etix® is an electronic ticket that replaces paper tickets. It has a 13-digit number in addition to your booking code. You receive this etix® ticket number under certain circumstances, for example if you book through the Lufthansa website or a travel agent. It is saved for you in the etix® database. When you present your etix® ticket number and a photo ID, you will receive your boarding pass.

When flying from, to or over certain countries* airlines are required by law to collect certain data through the Advance Passenger Information System (APIS) and to forward it to the authorities of those countries prior to the flight.

The following information is required:

  • Title
  • First name and surname
  • Date and country of birth
  • Gender
  • Nationality
  • Passport information

Additional APIS information is required for entry into the USA:

  • Country of residency
  • Destination airport
  • Complete address of your destination (street, city, postal code, state/province, country) 

Passengers who book online can enter this information immediately after completing their booking. Any missing information can be added later by going to 'My Eurowings'.

To avoid unnecessary delays at the check-in counter, we recommend that you submit the APIS information as early as possible using our online form.
