The most frequently asked questions

  • You can enter your Miles & More service card number before departure under "My flight". Use your Eurowings booking code.

    If your flight is not listed under "My flights", you can have check-in staff enter your number for you.

    Of course, you can also enter your Miles & More number after you have taken your flight. You will find the form for entering your miles retroactively at www.miles-and-more.com/mileage-request.

  • Yes, baggage can be added to a booking up to before web check-in closes before departure. If this is done online through "Book add-ons", on a mobile phone in the "Manage bookings" area, or by telephone, the usual additional charges apply. You will pay more if you register your baggage when you get to the airport counter.

    Adding baggage to a booking online

    1. Log in on the "Book add-ons" page.
    2. You will see an overview of your flights with all of the services you have booked.
    3. Simply add your baggage or excess baggage.
    4. After clicking "Next", just confirm your payment to complete the booking.
    5. We will then send you an updated booking confirmation.
    Note:

    Registered baggage cannot be removed.
    If you have an etix® ticket number rather than a booking number, or if you have booked a Eurowings flight with one of our partner airlines or through a travel agency, baggage regulations may vary. Please contact the appropriate airline or your travel agency for more details.
    All regulations apply to Eurowings flights with an EW flight number, regardless of the operating airline. For our partner airlines' flights, which do not have an EW flight number, the conditions of the respective airline apply. They can be viewed on the airlines' own websites. These partner airlines currently include Lufthansa, SWISS, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, Condor, United Airlines, Air Canada and All Nippon Airways.

  • If you are unable to take your flight, you have three options:

    1. Change your booking to another date

    Flight bookings can be changed to another available date up to before web check-in closes before departure, provided that the flight will be taken by the same person on the same route and is on our published flight schedule. You can change your booking online, with our mobile services or by phoning our call center. If you have added the Flex option to your SMART fare, BEST fare or BIZclass fare fare booking, you can change your flight free of charge up to before web check-in closes before departure. For other bookings, a fixed charge per passenger and per leg of your trip will apply. The amount can be found in our table of charges (Article 17 "BKG" and "NC1"). The flight price is determined by the fare that applies to the route at the time you change the booking. If the new flight is more expensive, you must pay the difference in price as well as the booking change fee. However, refunds will not be issued if the new flight is lower in price.

    Changing your booking online
    1. Log in to "My flight" with your username and password.
    2. In the overview of your booked flights, select the flight you want to change.
    3. Enter the new flight date.

    Changes to flights made online must be made within the same fare. If you want to change your fare, you can do so by phone or at the airport counter up to 72 hours before departure.

    Charges

    Booking changes will incur a fixed charge and, if appropriate, the fare difference. We will also charge an administration fee for changes made by phone or in person. This does not apply to flights booked with the Flex option.

    2. Name change

    You can transfer your flight to another person by phone for a charge, but only up to before web check-in closes before departure (or in the case of bookings for multiple legs, up to before web check-in closes before the first flight departs). Please have your booking number ready when you call.

    Charges

    If the current flight price is higher than the flight you originally booked, you will be required to pay the difference.

    Note:

    If your booking has an etix® ticket number, it is not possible to change a name for a Eurowings flight.

    3. Cancellation

    If you have added the Flex option to your SMART fare, BEST fare  or BIZclass fare fare booking, you may cancel your flight up to 40 minutes before departure free of charge. Unfortunately, no other bookings can be canceled because of their low prices. However, the flight dates can be changed online in the "My flight" area. Alternatively, you can call us to have the flights transferred to another person; a charge will apply.

    There are four ways to cancel a flight booked with the SMART, BEST or BIZclass fare with the Flex option:

    With the Flex option, bookings may also be canceled after the original travel date has passed. This option is free of charge, but flights must be canceled on the same day as the original scheduled departure date by phone or in person at our airport counters. If a booking is changed or canceled after the original departure date, a fixed charge will apply.

     Note:

    If you have an etix® ticket number rather than a booking number, or if you have booked a flight operated by one of our partner airlines at eurowings.com or through a travel agency, please contact the specific airline or your travel agency.

    All regulations apply to Eurowings flights with an EW flight number, regardless of the operating airline. For our partner airlines' flights, which do not have an EW flight number, the conditions of the specific airline apply and can be viewed on the airlines' own websites. These partner airlines currently include Lufthansa, SWISS, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, Condor, United Airlines, Air Canada and All Nippon Airways.

     Are you flying on Eurowings long-haul flights from Frankfurt or Munich to Bangkok?

    Unfortunately you cannot make any adjustments to your flight via Eurowings Online Services for the following routes: outgoing and return flight for Frankfurt am Main (FRA) to Mauritius (MRU), Barbados (BGI), Windhoek (WDH) and Las Vegas (LAS), as well as Munich (MUC) to and from Bangkok (BKK). Please contact the ${CMS.Airline EW} call centre.

  • The status display under "My flight" in the "View booking" area allows you to track the status of your payment and see when your payment has gone through.

    Declined

    "Declined" status is displayed if the payment could not be completed for some reason or if your direct debit has been returned.

    Please note that if payment is unsuccessful, reservations may be canceled without warning in accordance with the Conditions of Carriage (item 4.5).

    Pending

    "Pending" status means that authorization is still in progress, but your seat is reserved. If payment is unsuccessful, the status will change to "Declined".

    Confirmed

    If "Confirmed" status is displayed, both your payment and reservation are complete and your flight booking has been confirmed.

  • Each passenger may bring one carry-on item with a maximum weight of 8 kg and maximum dimensions of 55 x 40 x 23 cm on board. This excludes folding garment bags as carry-ons, which may measure up to 57 x 54 x 15 cm.

    On fully booked flights, we may ask you to check in your hand luggage. This is free of charge as long as you have met all hand luggage requirements. In this case you will be able to retrieve your hand luggage on arrival at luggage claim. Due to capacity constraints, we cannot guarantee that BASIC passengers will be able to bring their hand luggage into the cabin. We recommend the SMART fare to guarantee that you can take your hand luggage into the cabin.

    If you have booked the BIZclass fare, you may bring two items of hand luggage into the cabin.

    Larger or heavier items of luggage that do not comply with the above requirements must be checked in at the check-in counter. 

    Hand luggage that is too large or too heavy will be collected at the gate and transported in the hold as check-in luggage, for which a fee is payable. Please note that these regulations are strictly enforced during the boarding process. The fees charged at the gate are significantly higher than booking online and can only be paid by Maestro or credit card.

    This is not only for your convenience, but above all for the safety of you and other passengers.

    Please note that you must remove any dangerous goods, any medication and all valuables such as laptops, mobile phones, tablets, documents, identification papers and jewellery from your luggage when it is transported in the hold.

In the event that the accompanying adult is not a parent or legal guardian, we will need written permission from a parent or a legal guardian. Please use the form provided for this purpose. Without this written permission, we regret that we will have to refuse to transport the child. On direct flights within Germany, children ages 5 through 11 may travel on Eurowings without an accompanying adult (unaccompanied minors). Our child-friendly staff will care for your child and ensure that he or she reaches the destination airport safely.

Infants and toddlers under the age of 2 are not entitled to a seat. Instead, they are transported on the lap of an adult and secured with a seatbelt (loop belt).

Alternatively, we offer transport in a child safety seat in a separate seat. Bookings may only be made through the call center or at one of our airport counters. Online booking is not an option.

etix® is an electronic ticketing service that replaces paper tickets. It has a 13-digit number in addition to your booking code. You receive this etix® ticket number under certain circumstances, for example if you book your flight on the Lufthansa website or through a travel agent. It is saved for you in the etix® database. When you present your etix® ticket number and a photo ID, you will receive your boarding pass.

When flying from, to or over certain countries*, airlines are required by law to collect certain data through the Advance Passenger Information System (APIS) and to forward it to the authorities of those countries before the flight begins.

The following information is required:

  • Title
  • First and last name
  • Date and country of birth
  • Gender
  • Nationality
  • Passport information

Additional APIS information is required for entry into the United States:

  • Country of residence
  • Destination airport
  • Complete address of your destination (street, city, postal code, state/province, country) 

Passengers who book online can enter this information immediately after completing their booking. Any missing information can be added later by going to 'myEurowings'.

To avoid unnecessary delays at the check-in counter, we recommend that you submit the APIS information as early as possible using our online form.

Please note that you may not be permitted to travel if the information is not complete.
