  • Yes, musical instruments may be transported as carry-on items as long as they are no larger than a guitar and are packed in a soft case.

    Larger musical instruments must be placed on an extra seat in the cabin.

    Exception:

    Double basses must be transported in a hard case and checked as baggage. Due to their size, they may not be carried in the cabin.

    Extra seat

    If you book an extra seat by phone before midnight on the same day as you book your flight, the extra seat will cost the same as your own seat and there will be no extra charge. If an extra seat is added later, it will be charged at the current flight price as shown on the Internet.

  • If you booked your flight online, you can view the number by going to "My flight".

    Didn't book online?

    Not a problem. Please phone our call center and we will send your booking confirmation to you again.

    As a last resort, you can also check in at our counters without a booking number by simply presenting your identification documents.

    Tip: Do you have an etix® number but no booking number? Did you book your Eurowings flight through a travel agent or one of our partner airlines? If so, please contact the appropriate airline or your travel agent. Our current partner airlines are Lufthansa, SWISS, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, Condor, United Airlines, Air Canada and All Nippon Airways.

  • etix® electronic tickets replace paper tickets and consist of a 13-digit number in addition to the booking code. A booking code is issued with every etix® ticket number.
    For example, if you book your flight on lufthansa.com or through a travel agent, you will receive an etix® ticket number that is also saved in the etix® database. When you present your number and a photo ID at the airport counter, you will receive your boarding pass.

  • Service is very important to us, so we offer a wide range of payment options. We ask for your understanding in the event that not all payment options are available to you.

    Direct debit

    You can pay with direct debit up to 5 days before departure, as long as the following requirements are met:

    • You hold a current account.
    • Sufficient funds are available in your account.

    Any charges incurred by canceled payments or insufficient funds will be added to the ticket price. In the event of a chargeback, please do not make any payments. We will contact you as soon as possible to discuss the next step.

    Direct debit arrangements may vary for flights booked with our partner airlines at eurowings.com

    Credit cards

    You can also pay with your credit card as long as you are entitled to use it to pay by phone or online. For more information about this, please contact your bank.

    We accept the following credit cards:

    Unfortunately, we are currently unable to accept Eurocheque cards.

    PayPal

    You can either authorize PayPal to transfer the payment amount to us or you can authorize us to withdraw the relevant amount from your PayPal account.

    Paying with an invoice (RatePAY)

    You can also pay for your flight and any additional services ordered with a RatePAY invoice if:

    • You book online and the amount payable is at least €20 but no more than €2,000
    • The flight price is given in euros
    • Your billing and contact address is your personal address and is within the Federal Republic of Germany or Austria
    • You have a good credit rating

    Detailed information can be found in the RatePAY data protection declaration.

    If you meet these criteria and we have accepted your request to pay by RatePAY invoice, the invoice amount will be due on the tenth business day after booking or no later than the last business day before departure. Payment must arrive in the receiving account by this date. Please only transfer the payment to the bank account specified on the invoice.

    If you are unable to use this payment method, we can offer you an alternative payment option.

    Note:

    This payment method can only be used to pay for flight bookings.

    Cash payments

    You may only pay in cash if you book your ticket at one of our airport counters.

    Coupons

    Paying for a booking with a coupon is quick and simple:

    1. In the "Payment" step of the online booking process, select the option to pay with a voucher.
    2. Enter your voucher code and then check the code entered and the travel services in your basket.
    3. Click on "Confirm booking" to complete your booking.

    If the price of the flight exceeds the value of your coupon, you may pay the remaining amount either with another coupon or another payment method.

    Validity

    Coupons can only be used to book Eurowings flight services, not partner offers (e.g. Rail&Fly, rental cars or hotels).

    Please note that conditions of use vary for purchased and promotional vouchers.

  • Each passenger may bring one carry-on item with a maximum weight of 8 kg and maximum dimensions of 55 x 40 x 23 cm on board. This excludes folding garment bags as carry-ons, which may measure up to 57 x 54 x 15 cm.

    In addition to this, each passenger may bring another personal carry-on item (max. 40 x 30 x 10 cm)  (e.g. laptop bag or handbag) as well as one baby carrier, child car seat or buggy per child (transport in the cargo hold possible) and wheelchairs/orthopedic aids (for example, a walker).

    Due to the limited space available in the cabin, larger or heavier pieces of luggage must be checked at the airport counter and will be transported in the cargo hold. This is not only for your own safety and the safety of your fellow passengers, but also for your comfort.

    Please ensure that medication and valuable items such as laptops, mobile phones, PDAs, documents, ID and jewellery are removed from any bag to be transported in the cargo hold.

  • Please report immediately to our "Lost & Found" counter in the Arrivals area of the destination airport, because delayed reports cannot be accepted. Our colleagues at the counter will do everything to find your baggage as quickly as possible.

    In the first 5 days following the loss of your baggage, the airport where you reported the loss is solely responsible for the search. If they are unable to find your bags within this time, our headquarters will take over. You can check online for updates on the search on our baggage tracing page.

    Please mail us the following documents (original documents only) to help us find your bags as quickly as possible:

    • Your booking number (online confirmation number)
    • The loss report from the destination airport
    • The contents list (BIF) issued by the airport, which must be completed and signed
    • Your banking information – not your credit card number (for bank accounts held outside Germany, please include your IBAN or SWIFT code)
    • Your telephone number in case we have any questions or messages
    • Your luggage tag

Frequently asked questions relating to the topic: Rail&Fly

  • Want to take a convenient train to the airport for your flight? If so, step 2 of the booking process gives you the option of booking a Rail&Fly online ticket.

    • Enter your preferred departure and arrival stations under "Additional services" > "Rail & Fly".
    • Now choose whether you want to buy a train ticket just for the outbound trip or for both the outbound and return trips. The ticket can only be booked for the group as a whole, not for individual passengers. Infants up to two years of age travel free of charge if accompanied by their parents or grandparents.
    • Please enter the contact information associated with one passenger's ID card (BahnCard, EC or credit card) for identification on the train. This information is not collected for the purpose of paying for the tickets.
    • You will receive an email from us with your booking confirmation and a link.
    • Click on this link to print the Rail&Fly online ticket (we regret that we cannot mail it to you.)

  • Yes, you can edit your booking and add the following extra services up to before web check-in closes before departure, whether you do it online, on your mobile phone, by phone or at one of our airport counters:

    • Regular, excess and special baggage (golfing equipment, bicycles and sports gear such as surfboards, snowboards, bodyboards, diving gear, and sail and hang gliders)
    • Transport of pets
    • Seat reservations
    • Boarding and deplaning assistance for hearing or visually impaired passengers and travelers with restricted mobility
    • Boarding with a wheelchair
    • Assistance for passengers with restricted mobility from check-in to the aircraft, including assistance with steps to aircraft
    • Train connections to airport

    Please be aware that space restrictions prevent us from transporting unlimited amounts of special baggage. Once our space is used up, you will no longer be able to select this service.

    Fare upgrade

    Up to 72 hours before departure, you can still upgrade your fare by phone or at our counters. There will be no processing charge if you do it by phone.

  • Want to make sure your trip to the airport is quick and comfortable? If so, you can book your train ticket to the airport with us even after you have booked your flight. As usual, you can choose between a return ticket and a one-way ticket to the airport. It is not possible to book a train ticket for the return leg of the trip only. Rail&Fly tickets cannot be booked if the airport chosen as the destination of your return flight is different from the airport you are departing from.

    Please note that if you have made a group flight booking, train tickets may only be booked for all passengers and not for individual passengers.

    Exception:

    If you choose a one-way journey when booking your flight, it is not possible to add a return journey at a later date.

  • If you have booked a one-way ticket, your ticket will be valid on the day of the flight and on the day before the flight. The same goes for the outbound part of combined outbound and return tickets: The return ticket is valid on both the day of the return flight and the following day. Outbound and return trips may not be more than six months apart. Detours may not be taken using this ticket; both the outbound and return trips must be a direct route between the initial train station and the airport or vice versa. Any misuse of this ticket will incur additional charges.

  • Validity

    • Rail&Fly tickets can only be bought online for international flights either departing from or arriving in Germany.
    • Rail&Fly tickets cannot be booked if the airport chosen as the destination of your return flight is different from the airport you are departing from.
    • The Rail&Fly offer is not valid for domestic German flights, connecting flights or flights to and from Amsterdam, Brussels, Paris, Salzburg, Vienna or Zurich.
    • Train tickets can only be booked for routes that are paid for in euros.

    Rail&Fly online tickets unfortunately cannot be booked at eurowings.com for flights operated by our partner airlines.

etix® is an electronic ticketing service that replaces paper tickets. It has a 13-digit number in addition to your booking code. You receive this etix® ticket number under certain circumstances, for example if you book your flight on the Lufthansa website or through a travel agent. It is saved for you in the etix® database. When you present your etix® ticket number and a photo ID, you will receive your boarding pass.

When flying from, to or over certain countries*, airlines are required by law to collect certain data through the Advance Passenger Information System (APIS) and to forward it to the authorities of those countries before the flight begins.

The following information is required:

  • Title
  • First and last name
  • Date and country of birth
  • Gender
  • Nationality
  • Passport information

Additional APIS information is required for entry into the United States:

  • Country of residence
  • Destination airport
  • Complete address of your destination (street, city, postal code, state/province, country) 

Passengers who book online can enter this information immediately after completing their booking. Any missing information can be added later by going to 'My Eurowings'.

To avoid unnecessary delays at the check-in counter, we recommend that you submit the APIS information as early as possible using our online form.

Please note that you may not be permitted to travel if the information is not complete.
