What options do I have if I am unable to take my Eurowings flight?
If you are unable to take your flight, you have three options:
1. Change your booking to another date
Flight bookings can be changed to another available date up to before web check-in closes before departure, provided that the flight will be taken by the same person on the same route and is on our published flight schedule. You can change your booking online, with our mobile services or by phoning our call center. If you have added the Flex option to your SMART fare or BEST fare fare booking, you can change your flight free of charge up to before web check-in closes before departure. For other bookings, a fixed charge per passenger and per leg of your trip will apply. The amount can be found in our table of charges (Article 17 "BKG" and "NC1"). The flight price is determined by the fare that applies to the route at the time you change the booking. If the new flight is more expensive, you must pay the difference in price as well as the booking change fee. However, refunds will not be issued if the new flight is lower in price.
Changing your booking online
- Log in to "My flight" with your username and password.
- In the overview of your booked flights, select the flight you want to change.
- Enter the new flight date.
Changes to flights made online must be made within the same fare. If you want to change your fare, you can do so by phone or at the airport counter up to 72 hours before departure.
Booking changes will incur a fixed charge and, if appropriate, the fare difference. We will also charge an administration fee for changes made by phone or in person. This does not apply to flights booked with the Flex option.
If you have an etix® ticket number rather than a booking number, or if you have booked a flight operated by one of our partner airlines at eurowings.com or through a travel agency, please contact the specific airline or your travel agency.
All regulations apply to Eurowings flights with an EW or 4U flight number, regardless of the operating airline. For our partner airlines' flights, which do not have an EW or 4U flight number, the conditions of the specific airline apply and can be viewed on the airlines' own websites. These partner airlines currently include Lufthansa, SWISS, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, Condor, United Airlines, Air Canada and All Nippon Airways.
2. Name change
You can transfer your flight to another person by phone for a charge, but only up to before web check-in closes before departure (or in the case of bookings for multiple legs, up to before web check-in closes before the first flight departs). Please have your booking number ready when you call.
If the current flight price is higher than the flight you originally booked, you will be required to pay the difference.
If your booking has an etix® ticket number, it is not possible to change a name for a Eurowings flight.
If you have added the Flex option to your SMART fare or BEST fare fare booking, you may cancel your flight up to 40 minutes before departure free of charge. Unfortunately, no other bookings can be canceled because of their low prices. However, the flight dates can be changed online in the "My flight" area. Alternatively, you can call us to have the flights transferred to another person; a charge will apply.
There are four ways to cancel a flight booked with the SMART or BEST fare with the Flex option:
- Here, on our website
- Using our mobile services, under "Manage flights"
- Through our call center
- At our airport counters.
With the Flex option, bookings may also be canceled after the original travel date has passed. This option is free of charge, but flights must be canceled on the same day as the original scheduled departure date by phone or in person at our airport counters. If a booking is changed or canceled after the original departure date, a fixed charge will apply.
