Baggage & carry-on items

The most frequently asked questions

  • Please report immediately to our "Lost & Found" counter in the Arrivals area of the destination airport, because delayed reports cannot be accepted. Our colleagues at the counter will do everything to find your baggage as quickly as possible.

In the first 5 days following the loss of your baggage, the airport where you reported the loss is solely responsible for the search. If they are unable to find your bags within this time, our headquarters will take over. You can check online for updates on the search on our baggage tracing page.

We kindly ask you to send us following documents via email to help us find your luggage as quickly as possible:

    • Your booking number (online confirmation number)
    • The loss report from the destination airport
    • The contents list (BIF) issued by the airport, which must be completed and signed
    • Your banking information – not your credit card number (for bank accounts held outside Germany, please include your IBAN or SWIFT code)
    • Your telephone number in case we have any questions or messages
    • Your luggage tag

  • Each passenger may bring one carry-on item with a maximum weight of 8 kg and maximum dimensions of 55 x 40 x 23 cm on board. This excludes folding garment bags as carry-ons, which may measure up to 57 x 54 x 15 cm.

In addition to this, each passenger may bring another personal carry-on item (max. 40 x 30 x 10 cm)  (e.g. laptop bag or handbag) as well as one baby carrier, child car seat or buggy per child (transport in the cargo hold possible) and wheelchairs/orthopedic aids (for example, a walker).

Due to the limited space available in the cabin, larger or heavier pieces of luggage must be checked at the airport counter and will be transported in the cargo hold. This is not only for your own safety and the safety of your fellow passengers, but also for your comfort.

Please ensure that medication and valuable items such as laptops, mobile phones, PDAs, documents, ID and jewellery are removed from any bag to be transported in the cargo hold.

    • Baby buggy
    • Stroller
    • Child safety seat

Larger items will be carried as oversize luggage. Some airports allow you to take smaller, lighter strollers with you to the gate.

  • In addition to all other hand luggage regulations, the following regulations regarding carrying liquids on aeroplanes apply for all departures within the EU and in several other countries, including Switzerland, Russia, Iceland, Croatia, Israel, Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia and Norway:

    • All liquids (such as cosmetics and toiletries, gels, pastes, creams, lotions, mixtures of liquids and solids, perfumes, pressurised containers, cans or water bottles) and wax and gel-like products may only be carried on board in containers holding up to 100 ml or 100 g.
    • These liquids and products must be packed in a transparent, resealable and fully closed plastic bag (max. capacity 1 l). No such plastic bags are available at our check-in area so travellers must ensure they obtain one in advance, for example a freezer bag from the supermarket.
    • Prescribed medication and baby food may also be carried in hand luggage if the traveller can prove that they will be required during the flight.

    Our recommendation:

Store all liquids and gels that you will not require during your flight in your checked luggage to ensure a quicker boarding process.

Liquids from Travel Value or duty-free shops

You may purchase liquids, gels and cream products in containers greater than 100 ml tax-free at airport shops and on board if they are sealed in a security tamper evident bag (STEB) along with the receipt at the time of purchase. If purchasing items on board, please ask the flight crew to seal them for you. Please note that due to high demand there may no longer be any more STEBs on board. You may take these items onto your connecting flight in your hand luggage if the seal is left intact and the receipt is in the bag. This applies to all departures from and via EU airports, including Norway, Iceland and Switzerland.

We assume no liability for products that are opened or confiscated during transit or when exiting the plane.

Further information can be found on the website of the Federal Ministry of the Interior.

    Note:

Products and bags that do not comply with requirements or are not closed with a rubber band or similar must be handed over to security. Eurowings accepts no liability for any belongings brought along by passengers which must be handed over to security.

When flying from, to or over certain countries*, airlines are required by law to collect certain data through the Advance Passenger Information System (APIS) and to forward it to the authorities of those countries before the flight begins.

The following information is required:

  • Title
  • First and last name
  • Date and country of birth
  • Gender
  • Nationality
  • Passport information

Additional APIS information is required for entry into the United States:

  • Country of residence
  • Destination airport
  • Complete address of your destination (street, city, postal code, state/province, country)

Passengers who book online can enter this information immediately after completing their booking. Any missing information can be added later by going to 'My Eurowings'.

To avoid unnecessary delays at the check-in counter, we recommend that you submit the APIS information as early as possible using our online form.

Please note that you may not be permitted to travel if the information is not complete.
