* Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) is produced from renewable raw materials. While it results in similar CO₂ emissions during combustion compared to conventional kerosene, it achieves at least 80% lower CO₂ emissions over its entire life cycle. To contribute to saving CO₂ emissions, we calculate the amount of fuel based on the estimated CO₂ emissions and ensure that this amount of SAF is used on future Lufthansa Group flights. All SAF offered to customers is purchased in addition to the EU-mandated 2% quota already included in the ticket price and is used within six months of the respective flight. The raw materials for SAF do not compete with food production and must meet strict sustainability criteria in accordance with RED II and RefuelEU, verified by independent auditors. At present, SAF accounts for less than 1% of global aviation fuel.

** For the package for CO₂ savings with a share of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), you will receive Points for flights operated by Lufthansa Group, co-issuing Miles & More airline partners and STAR Alliance Airlines. For flights operated by Lufthansa Group and the co-issuing Miles & More airline partners, you will also receive Qualifying Points in the same amount and (for Business Class and First Class flights) additional HON Circle Points up to a maximum of +20%. Flight award tickets and reduced-price tickets within the travel industry (e.g. ID or AD) are generally excluded from earning miles and Points (Points, Qualifying Points and HON Circle Points).
