Most people only know Dortmund (DTM) as an economic and trading city in North Rhine-Westphalia. But the city also has beautiful sights and destinations to offer in the surrounding region. Episodes of the TV Series Tatort are shot here, and the Theater Dortmund (DTM) offers visitors a range of classical ballets, opera performances and improvisational theatre. The Theater im Depot in particular is a real find, as it has established itself as a centre for independent theatre over the years. Various productions have been put on at the Naturbühne Hohensyburg, in the midst of the Syburg forest, since 1952. The Schule für Tanzkunst (School of Dance Arts) in Rheinische Strasse is no less professional, putting on performances on a very private stage.
