Visitors to Fuerteventura (FUE) can find little villages, endless landscapes and magnificent mountain and hiking trails. The golden yellow beaches and the sandy dunes are a hallmark of this popular holiday island. If you're expecting a lot of sights and historic buildings, you'll be disappointed however. Fuerteventura (FUE) is known for its miles of sandy beaches and many secluded coves. At about 1,700 square kilometres, Fuerteventura (FUE) is the second-largest Canary Island, but it is not one of the party islands. Tourists are far more likely to find secluded beaches with around 300 sunny days a year in which to enjoy a relaxing holiday. The island's many little villages such as Costa Calma, Jandia or Antigua offer tourists a wealth of restaurants and bars boasting local specialities and wines.
