Book flights to Mostar (OMO): a culinary experience!

Located on both sides of the bridge, the historic city centre can be easily navigated on foot. In the small shops along the steep banks of the city, visitors are invited to watch local artisans as they work and purchase their creations. And if you would like to relax, the city centre boasts many cosy cafés and restaurants. The tourist information centre is located on the western bank of the city centre.

Mostar’s largest mosque, the Karadzozbeg Mosque, is also well worth a visit. And on the western side of the Neretva river is the hammam, a public bathhouse from the Ottoman era and the only remaining Turkish bath in Mostar. Built between the end of the 16th century and the beginning of the 17th century, the hammam is now home to the ‘Hamam Museum’, which gives visitors a glimpse into an earlier way of life. An additional attraction is the old bazaar, known as Kujundžiluk.

The famous Bisevica House is an absolute must for your holiday in Mostar. It can be easily reached on foot from Stari Most. A tour through the Bisevica House gives you a feeling of what it was like to live here in the 17th century. The stunning bathing area and opulent rooms boast ornate furniture and rugs. The rooms and exhibits are so diverse that one could easily spend an entire morning marvelling at their beauty. For lunch, you can head to one of the many stands for a pita or ćevapi, the tasty national dishes of Herzegovina. You could also visit one of the many family-owned restaurants for a sizeable portion of ‘dolma’ – garden vegetables filled with rice and meat. Mostar is also famous for its pomegranates, figs and honey – all good gift ideas from your holiday in Mostar!
