Newcastle (NCL) on the northern English River Tyne is on the rise. The city centre is flourishing and has long since developed a colourful nightlife scene, for example, that is perfect for revellers. There's more than enough to see and do for all those who want to take things a little easier, however. The Norman castle, cathedrals and city walls still bear witness to past power and prosperity. Yet Newcastle (NCL) does anything but live in the past. Its cultural life is blossoming: in addition to gallery and museum visits, trips to parks and river walks are sure to please. If you want even more variety, the North Sea is only around 30 minutes away by train.
