Book Madrid (MAD) flights – Experience culture

The Spanish capital of Madrid (MAD) is one of Europe's biggest and brightest cities. The city is also one of the most popular city break destinations, not least due to its many beautiful buildings, old monuments and historical sights. Culture lovers will find many museums in Madrid (MAD), some of which have different exhibitions of well-known and emerging artists throughout the year. The Paseo del Prado, Madrid's avenue of art, is especially interesting. This is where the world's three most important museums are located: the Museo de Arte Thyssen-Bornemisza, the Museo del Prado and the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia. Madrid (MAD) is of course also home to many other museums such as the National Archaeological Museum or the Museo de Cera, a waxworks.

Book Madrid (MAD) flights – Discover the city

A tour through the city could start at the Plaza Mayor, the former market square dating back to the 15th century. To this day, it is a popular meeting place for locals and tourists alike. The Plaza de Oriente, a city centre park-like space, is located between the Opera and the Palacio Real. Three points of interest are on the Plaza de Cibeles: the Palacio de Comunicaciones, the Banco de Espania and the Cybele Fountain. It doesn't matter where you start, your path will always take you to beautiful sights and bustling squares. If you have a little more time, then step off the beaten tourist track and walk through the little streets and alleys away from the main attractions.

Madrid (MAD) is also great for exploring on your own. If you don't want to see the city with a guide, you can take a tour with one of the red hop on, hop off buses. These buses stop at key points and offer visitors a lot of interesting information about the city's most important sights. The surrounding area also has many lovely destinations to offer, including the Valley of the Fallen, the Real Sitio de San Lorenzo de El Escorial or Segovia.
