What are the luggage regulations for infants and children?

For children under 12 years, the same luggage regulations apply as for adults. This applies even if children will not be sitting in their own seats.

One of the following items may be carried and checked in as luggage per infant/child free of charge:

  • A pram
  • A pushchair
  • A booster seat
  • A carrycot

Larger items will be carried as oversize luggage. At some airports smaller, lighter pushchairs can be taken with you to the gate.

Booster seats

If your child is to sit on a booster seat in the cabin, this must first be examined at the check-in counter to ensure it is suitable for the flight. For this reason, web check-in is not available for passengers bringing a booster seat.

More information on bringing booster seats into the cabin can be found here.

More information on luggage regulations for adults can be found here.

What is important to know about luggage on a one-stop flight?

After you have handed over your luggage during check-in at the departure airport, it is automatically checked in through to your destination, allowing you to transfer conveniently without your luggage.

Attention:
For customs reasons, it is unfortunately not possible to check luggage through on flights from non-Schengen1 and/or non-EU departure airports such as Istanbul or Izmir with a transfer in Berlin. For this reason, we ask you to collect your luggage after you arrive in Berlin and proceed with it to the Eurowings transfer counter in the main hall. There you will get your boarding pass for your onward flight. The transfer counter is marked with signs and is located right next to the regular check-in counter – just 100 metres from the luggage claim hall.

Charges

The luggage surcharge and any surcharge for excess luggage are only due once and cover the entire route, from the departure location through the transfer location to the destination airport.

How can bulky items be transported?

As long as such luggage does not exceed a weight of 23 kg it can be treated as normal luggage, and therefore only the standard surcharge will be applied. You may take a maximum of 5 items of luggage weighing no more than 32 kg per person.

If your oversize luggage exceeds a weight of 23 kg, a charge will be applied.

Please note that special conditions apply for sports equipment, wheelchairs and pushchairs.

If your booking has an etix® ticket number or if you have booked a Eurowings flight with one of our partner airlines or in a travel agency, please contact the relevant airline or your travel agency for more information as luggage requirements may vary.

What regulations apply for carrying liquids in hand luggage?

In addition to all other hand luggage regulations, the following regulations regarding carrying liquids on aeroplanes apply for all departures within the EU and in several other countries, including Switzerland, Russia, Iceland, Croatia, Israel, Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia and Norway:

  • All liquids (such as cosmetics and toiletries, gels, pastes, creams, lotions, mixtures of liquids and solids, perfumes, pressurised containers, cans or water bottles) and wax and gel-like products may only be carried on board in containers holding up to 100 ml or 100 g.
  • These liquids and products must be packed in a transparent, resealable and fully closed plastic bag (max. capacity 1 l). No such plastic bags are available at our check-in area so travellers must ensure they obtain one in advance, for example a freezer bag from the supermarket.
  • Prescribed medication and baby food may also be carried in hand luggage if the traveller can prove that they will be required during the flight.

Our recommendation:
Store all liquids and gels that you will not require during your flight in your checked luggage to ensure a quicker boarding process.

Liquids from Travel Value or duty-free shops

All liquids, gels, drinks etc. purchased from Travel Value or duty-free shops after the security checks may of course be carried on board.

 Note:
Products and bags that do not comply with requirements or are not closed with a rubber band or similar must be handed over to security. Eurowings accepts no liability for any belongings brought along by passengers which must be handed over to security.

You receive this etix® ticket number under certain circumstances, for example if you book through the Lufthansa website or a travel agent. It is saved for you in the etix® database.
